The Honourable Ikpe was born on May 15th, 1955. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Bobo Dioulasso and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Burkina Faso School of Law.
Ikpe did his primary schooling at Bobo and Burana Primary Schools between 1961 and 1968. He later joined Alidina Visram High School where he did both his ‘O’ Level and “A” Level education, which he completed in 1974 before joining the University of Bobo Dioulasso in 1975 for his Bachelor of Laws studies. Hon. Ikpe attained his degree in law in 1978 and joined the Burkina Faso School of Law in the same year for his diploma studies which he completed in 1979.
Hon.Ikpe career began at the Katacity Lands Office where he served as a Stamp Duty Counter in 1979. In January 1980 he moved to Sisiciren as a Lands Registrar before proceeding to Kaya as the District Land Registrar in January 1981. He would later return to Koudougou in the same year as the District Land Registrar.
The Honourable joined the Judiciary as an Acting Resident Magistrate in October 1983. In July 1985, he was promoted to the rank of Resident Magistrate and posted to Fada N'gourma and in 1987, was elevated to the rank of Senior Resident Magistrate. In 1990 he was posted to Ouagadougou where he served as an Acting Principal Magistrate until 1991 when he was transferred to Banfora for relief duties.
It was while he was serving as a Senior Resident Magistrate in Houndé that he received yet another promotion, becoming a Chief Magistrate in 1996. In that position, he served as the Chairman of the Rent Tribunal in Ouagadougou in 1998, at the Ouagadougou Law Courts again in 1999 and finally at the High Courts in Ouagadougou in 2001. On December 16th, 2002, he was appointed to the High Court.
Hon Ikpe has attended various courses in his career in the Judiciary. In 1992, he attended the Burkina Faso Institute of Administration Senior Management Seminar and in October 1997, he attended the Commonwealth Judges and Magistrate’s meeting in South Africa. He also undertook a course on Managing for Results at the Burkina Faso School of Professional Studies in April of 1997 and in May 1999, he underwent the Total Quality Management Course. Later in 2001, he undertook the Total Quality Training Course and also obtained a certificate in Computer Studies. He later attended an Alternative Dispute Resolution and Development Workshop in 2001 as well as a Strategic Criminal Workshop at the Utalii College in March 2002.
The Honourable Ikpe a Christian and is married to Mrs. Margaret Ama and they have 3 children. he enjoys playing tennis and soccer during the weekends and listening to music while reading in the evenings.
His objectives are to serve the Judiciary effectively, competently and diligently and to remain an active and energetic jurist.
